The Dead 60´s
12.02.2008
Hi all,
Well, some of you may have heard the news by now.....The Dead 60s are no more. We decided to call it a day just after Christmas. There's no big story, no falling out between us. We just felt like the band had run its course, time for us all to branch out & try other things.
A big thanks to everyone who has been partial to the success that we had and to all the amazing gigs/tours/nights out that we experienced along the way.
And so, on to new things and new music. We will keep you posted of our new projects & hope to see you all soon..
Feri bhetaula,
Matt, Charlie, Ben & Bryan.

The Dead 60s sind Geschichte.

Bonsoir, I'm sitting in a hotel room overlooking the Gergovie Plateau, which is in Clermont-Ferrand; and according to the hotel guide spiel, apparently the scene of a famous battle in 52 BC in which Vercingetorix defeated Julius Caesar. We have a night off and a gig here tomorrow, just about to set off into the town to check out the town has to offer nowadays. Been having a great time- quite an eventful past few days have seen us drive between Caen, Brest, Orleans, Dijon and now here.. Highlights include:- Me managing to miss the bus call for 8am in Caen after a long night- leaving me stranded there in a strange forest. As a further kick in the balls, my mobile packed in, giving me no means to contact the bus I was presumed to be upon. In the end I used my English charms to coerce a local to drive me the 5 hours to Brest. Then ensued an emotional re-union with the boys.. and a decent gig that night, albeit with an obscure French emo band. Orleans - a great night, played with a male/female duo called Twice who turned out to be really good.
Dijon was top too.. met some locals, ate wine and drank mustard, all washed down with a fresh pheasant. All in all, bonnes vacances.
Thank you for all your messages of good will to our aggrieved and partially concussed tour manager Keith. For all you sickos out there we will be uploading episode two - 'the stitch up' on you tube. Stay tuned for that one. Its worth it just for Matt's giggling.
And Finally..our Fred Perry jackets are being shipped iminently, looking likely for an immediate sell out in fact! fred perry jacket info : www.Fredperry.com/thdead60s
The last three nights of this French tour are upon us. So hopefully we'll see some of you in Clermont, Lyon or Paris. Its sure to be one hell of an end of tour party on Saturday night I can tell you.
Until next time.... adieu

Lest mal rein:
Bonjour!
Today we are in a place called Amiens. Which is in France. We've been over here for over a week now...been playing a mixture of our own shows and festivals. All good so far! Highlights include the first show in Nantes where we headlined the Scopitone festival..performing in front of the Sultans elephant, Toulouse ..where the back lounge of our bus turned into a scene from a 90s hip hop music video, and the Marsatac festival in Marseille ..where we performed right on the Mediterranean coast. Big thanks to everyone who have been coming to the shows, instores..and buying the record over here!
On a more sour note...we nearly lost our tour manager Keith the other day. A chilled out day off in Lille turned into an episode of 999. At 2pm we left our hotel to embark on a mission of siteseeing and shopping in the centre of Lille. We split into two groups..Keith and Matt rode bikes in whilst the rest of us walked it. Hours went by with everyone having a great time. Fine food & wine were consumed by the bucketload..and everything was going swimmingly. At 3am..it was decided that the facilities in Lille on a Sunday night had been exhausted, so everyone returned to the hotel. Keith and Matt left first on the bikes...we followed shortly afterwards by foot. 30mins later we were greeted with the site of Keith in reception, totally delirious with blood pouring out of his head. Turns out that they had spent the time waiting for us by practicing some jumps on the grass embankments in the hotel car park. One jump too many...Keith Knievel went head first over the handlebars..and landed with his head hitting the curb. Needless to say, he was rushed straight to hospital and had his head sewn back together by a very kind doctor called Dr. Benjamin. Hilarious video footage of the event will be appearing on our website this week, you have to see it!!
The Paris Élysée Montmartre competition winner has now been decided. After narrowing it down to 5 finalists, we are pleased to say that Soma will be supporting us at the show!
We've just been confirmed as main support for the upcoming Ash UK tour. We met the guys a few weeks back when we both played at the Ward Park festival in Bangor. Looking forward to getting out and playing some shows with them. Check out our website or myspace page for all gig info!!
Talk soon..
Bryan.

The Dead 60s gehen unter die Designer
17.09.2007

Lest mal, was da wieder alles passiert ist:
Latest extravaganzas
Afternoon all,
At home on a day off today...recovering from the past couple of weeks extravaganzas..
Bad luck managed to strike us on the day of our Northampton show....the van broke down!! A burst water pump and vast amounts of diesel leaking from underneath left us stranded in Bath for several hours whilst we waited for someone to come out and fix it. Unfortunately there was no way we could physically make it over to Northampton in time..so we had to pull the gig. Apologies to everyone who had bought tickets...we hate having to cancel shows...hopefully we can make it up at some point in the near future!!
With the van fixed..we headed over to Reading..for the Reading/Leeds festival stint. Both days went swimmingly...the weather and crowd were very kind to us...and we got to play on the main stage alongside some great bands...RHCP, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party.. If anyone has photos from either day...do post them in the photo section on our website!
We played our first show in Austria last Thursday, at the Vienna Open Air Arena alongside The Gossip, Pigeon Detectives, Dogs, To My Boy....twas a great line up & a great night. 3hrs sleep...2 flights..a ferry...and a drive later..we were over in Bangor, Northern Ireland...supporting Snow Patrol at their homecoming show. It was an all day, outdoor mini festival kind of setup..with us, Kowalski, Simple Kid, We Are Scientists and Ash all on the bill. No rest for the wicked...we had to leave pretty much straight after our set to catch a ferry back to Holyhead. Only, bad traffic on the roads caused us to miss it by about 10mins!! A great amount of stress & and charm bought us onto the next one...but didn't leave us much time to make the following gig. We were due to play at the Bingley Live Music Festival at 5pm...but the sat nav was saying we wouldn't arrive there til 5.30pm. Big thanks to Keith our Tour Manager for putting his foot down and getting us there on time. 90mph for 3 hours on wet roads in the pouring rain isn't the most relaxed ride...but at least it costs less than Alton towers…and the queues aren't as bad!
Other news to report…
Some new UK tour dates/acoustic instores for this month have just been announced. Have a look at www.thedead60s.com to see if we're playing near you.
Tomorrow will see us play at the 100 Club in London. It's an exclusive gig for Virgin Xtreme Radio.
Last but certainly not least...Stand Up is released next Monday!! CLICK HERE to order all 3 formats, including signed CD and pin badge for £3.97. A bargain we say!!
All for now..
Bryan.

Tourdiary Episode 4
Hi, Its Ben here!
Just a quick note this week. The tour's been going really well. Had a few great nights in York and Brighton this week. Last Gang have been top to have on board too.
We're in Bath today on a day off, except Bryan. He's on his way to London to do the Round Table on 6Music tonight. So listen out for him. The rest of us are heading in to town soon for a few drinks. But don't tell Bryan...
I'm really looking forward to Reading and Leeds this Sat/Sun. This tour seems to have flown by. Its been really good fun, and really hard work. So this weekend is the perfect way to see it off.
I'm off to the pub now. See you at the weekend.
Ben

Tourdiary Episode 3
The morning after
Hey everyone....
7am..and wide awake. Bens up doing a japanese phone interview...which has awoken me... Played London Dingwalls last night....what a gig! Whole place proper went off from the first song. We jiggled the set about a bit....Loaded Gun & A Different Age from our first record making welcome returns into the fold..
Other gigs in the past week include Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester. All top nights. Apologies to anyone in attendance at the Aberdeen show...you probably noticed that we had to cut the set short by a couple of songs (All Over By Midnight & Stand Up were axed)....apologies for that...really was out of our control..severe technical difficulties on stage!
Newcastle was a bit of a highlight. We dropped in on Alan Robson at Metro Radio for an interview & session. He's a local legend...a paranormal investigator and a bit of a ghosbuster with his own tv show on ABC over in the States. Says that next time we're back...he's gonna take us round some haunted castle.....will definitely hold him to that!..
Met up with the guys from Fred Perry yesterday afternoon. We've been working on a collaboration with them recently.. involving a new type of harrington jacket...we saw some prototypes...all looking really good! Can't say too much on it at the mo....more details to come over the next few weeks...
Lastly....for all those coming to see us play Reading & Leeds, we've had an idea! Remember the flag in our video for Stand Up?. Well we want you to create your own 'the Dead 60s' flags and pitch them by your tents or wave in the crowd. It's actually quite a sensible idea of ours....you'll be able to find your beds easily each night! The best "flag on location" photos will be posted on the website during the week after the festival weekend...the winners winning tickets to our next gig near you!
Also, you can see our video for Stand Up on MTV2.
All for now,
The Dead 60s

Tourdiary Episode 2
Just a quick note to check in..
Had some top shows this weeks so far. London ICA on Tuesday with Kasabian (messy..)...and Middlesbrough Empire last night..another good show. It really is great to see the gigs proper rammed..with everyone going nuts. More and more people each night singing along to the new songs...in particular Stand Up. It really does spur us on..
In Aberdeen at the moment. I'd forgotten how long it takes to get here. Proper mission!...although we did have to go via Edinburgh to drop Ben and Matt off. They were getting picked up there by our Columbia Rep Grant..then heading over to Glasgow to record an XFM acoustic session. Not sure when thats getting aired....details should be up on website soon!.. Believe it or not..this is actually our first headlining show in Aberdeen....every other time we've been supporting other bands...the last gig being back in early 2004 opening for the Zutons. Quite a while ago..Our own show is well overdue!
We're selling a whole new range of merch on this tour. The 'You're Not The Law' t shirt is still going strong...with a new t-shirt (New logo with 2 figures from Stand Up artwork) to keep it company. Both priced at £10. We're also selling lighters...and condoms...with Stand Up written on the latter. Genius. Both priced at £1. They're not up on our online merch store yet... but we are on the case...
Other recent news...a few more UK dates are getting drafted in for early September around the release of 'Stand Up'...the Trojan compilation is coming along nicely....been working on artwork and the inlay for that....Ben celebrated his birthday last Saturday in Nottingham...whilst I shall celebrate mine in a van driving back from Newcastle on Monday.
The Joys of the Road!!
Catch you all soon,
Bryan.
